Wooden Name Plates using English Cherry Wood
This lovely timber, often difficult to obtain,  reddens when exposed to sunlight and the colour improves with age. It has a fine, straight, close grain which resists warping and shrinking. As with most timber it does need to be well maintained.

Lettering
The letters are first cut into thick rubber stencils which are applied to the Cherry. The design is then carved out by sandblasting and the letters can be painted black, bright blue, navy blue or green. Pictures and Borders
We can include simple pictures on the signs. We have a selection CLICK HERE - or you can send in your own artwork - It must be a silhouette style image without any very fine lines or shades. The cost is £10 per image. A line border, with or without indented corners can also be included - £5.00

Danish Oil or Varnish
To keep your sign looking young we apply 3 coats of Danish oil to protect against the weather. This also helps to prevent cracking and movement in the wood. To maintain the sign, rub over another coat of Danish Oil, a minimum of three times a year. In exposed situations or if the wood starts to look dry, give extra coats. It is very easy to do and only takes a couples of minutes. We can supply you with Danish Oil if you are unable to obtain it locally.
If prefered we can varnish the sign. However this does not last forever and will need rubbing down and re-varnishing as necessary.
