Here at The Sign Maker we can make wooden notice boards to your specifications for both indoor and outdoor purposes. Oak is usually the most popular material due to its variation in grain, texture and colour, as well as being extremely strong and durable. Iroko is also anoption, the timber is very similiar to teak as its imported from west Africa, the wood is naturally oily and therefore needs less care. Finally is sapele which is similar to mahogancy and is a deep red colour, as well as beeing a harder wood to oak making it very good value.
At the Sign Maker the timber is treated with a wood preservative, the most common is to give three coats of a satin finish commercial varnish, however if you prefer we can offer Osmo oil, or even for the timber to be painted black, white, gret or green.
The notice board in the photos is made of an oak frame, and tricoya pannel. Tricoya is a wood based rot-proof board with a 50 year life span. The notice board is an overall size of 1253 x 800mm and is divided into 2 sections. The oak framed purplex door has rubber seals to keep moisture out, with a cork back board for information to be pinned to.
The other part is painted black with gold letttering. An aluminium slider has also been used so that the Ministers name can be changed at a future date. This bespoke oak notice board cost £586 plus VAT.
