Painted Wooden Backing Boards

There are times when a painted wooden backing board looks more appropriate than a natural wooden backing board. This is particularly the case with the more modern engraving materials.

For the painted wooden backing boards we normally use either Sapele or Accoya.  Sapele is a sustainable hardwood and very stable - ideal for painted signs.  Accoya is a modified timber which started life as Radiata Pine from New Zealand. It is very environmentally friendly, solid as well as being more stable and durable than the best tropical hardwoods. Paints can last up to three times as long on accoya compared to unmodified woods.

When finding the price of a backing board you will need to add about 1 " 25mm to the size of the plaque. eg  plate 4" x 6" will need a backing board 5" x 7".
