Pewter Mint Julep Cup

What is a Mint Julep?

It all started at the Kentucky Derby in the late 1930's and it is now a cocktail served throughout the world. It has a strong presence of mint followed by bourbon, sugar, water and crushed ice and should be served in cups. Why not give it a try.

Ingredients:

• 1 teaspoon icing sugar
• 1½ ounces water
• 2 mint leaves, plus additional leaves, for garnish
• 2 ounces  bourbon whisky
• Crushed ice

Directions:

Add icing sugar to  your cup, and stir in water under sugar is dissolved. Add the mint leaves and bruise, or gently muddle. Add 1½ ounces of bourbon and stir. Fill the cup with crushed ice, until about ⅔ full. Insert straw and garnish with additional mint leaves, if desired. Top with remaining bourbon, followed my more crushed ice, and serve.
